History[]

Dio Brando was the son of Dario Brando, a wretched English criminal who just so happened to witness a carriage crash involving the wealthy Joestar Family. Mistaking Dario's attempt at scrounging loot for aid, the Joestar patriarch George extended his gratitude in a favour, which would be called upon many years later when a dying Dario sent his son Dio to live with the Joestars. Dio, however, was mad, scheming, and arrogant, and brashly pushed his adoptive brother Jonathan Joestar out of his way in order to attain the family's wealth for himself. This came to a head when Dio plotted to poison George; upon Jonathan discovering his treachery, Dio, in a fit of desperation, donned a sacred stone mask, and transformed himself into a mighty vampire.

With his new powers, Dio set out to take over the world, starting by building an army of zombie slaves in the town of Windknight's Lot. He nearly succeeded, if not for the intervention of Jonathan once again; his brother had become a master of hamon, which proved to be especially effective against Dio's vampire body. Never going down without a fight, Dio's severed head managed to lure Jonathan into one last trap, ending with them both locked in a coffin at the bottom of the ocean for 100 years.

Emerging in a new century, Dio aquired a mystical golden Arrow and awakened a new power in the form of a Stand, a manifestation of his will. As he now posessed the body of Jonathan, this in turn awakened Stands in Jonathan's descendants, including his grandson Joseph Joestar and his grandson Jotaro Kujo. Once again, a team lead by a Joestar set out to find and destroy Dio, but believing his own Stand, The World, to be the most powerful in existence, Dio resumed his plan to dominate the Earth and build a new paradise in his image. Using his silver tongue and hypnotic abilities to build a powerful army in Egypt, Dio confronted Joseph and Jotaro in a battle of powerful, time-stopping Stands.

Personality[]

Dio Brando is incredibly arrogant, brash, and cunning. He prefers to scheme from the shadows in secrecy, making every attempt to attain victory without attracting suspicion. More deadly than his vampiric and Stand abilities is his mastery of persuasion; Dio was capable of swaying followers to his side from the very beginning, with promises of wealth and power. In turn, their powers essentially became his own chess pawns to further augment his plans. Long after Dio's own death, one such follower with a powerful stand of his own would use it to reshape the universe in Dio's image, showing just how far Dio had cut into the fate of the Joestars.

When forced to fight, however, he loves to show off his superiority, with both his vampire abilities and those of his stand, The World. Under the belief that he has left the weakness of humanity behind, Dio enjoys gloating about how his opponents have no chance at beating him. Even with this cocky attitude, however, he remains intelligent in battle, only employing new skills gradually so as to baffle his opponents into a stupor with his powers.
