Monkey D. Luffy is the main protagonist from the anime/manga, One Piece. He previously starred in the One Minute Melee episode Naruto vs. Luffy. He has also fought Mr. Fantastic in an episode of DBX, and Natsu Dragneel in an episode of Riot Rumble.

History[]
As a child easily influenced by his adoptive brothers Portgas D. Ace and Sabo, as well as the Emperor Shanks, Luffy had a dream to one day become the King of the Pirates. To do so, he would have to gather a crew and sail to the end of the legendary Grand Line to find the treasure of the previous King, Gol D. Roger. With his now-famous straw hat given to him by Shanks, Luffy formed the small yet powerful crew, the Straw Hat Pirates. Luffy and his crewmates loved friendship more than anything else, despite their occupation as pirates, and made several allies along their journey while becoming enemies of the iron-fisted marines and totalitarian World Government.
As more and more legendary pirates were defeated by, or even allied with, Luffy, his notoriety grew, and he is now considered to be the fifth emperor of the sea, with one of the highest bounties in history. His threat level was elevated when he was revealed to be the son of the legendary criminal Monkey D. Dragon, the grandson of hero Monkey D. Garp, and a holder of the mysterious Will of D.
Personality[]
At surface level, Luffy is an idiot who knows little about sailing, cooking, tactical plans, or anything that a pirate would need a basic grasp of. However, his sheer determination allows him to power through these setbacks. He will stop at nothing to achieve his goal of becoming the Pirate King, and helping the friends he makes along the way.
Luffy heavily values individual freedom, and if he meets someone who is ruling unjustly over others, he tends to step in and punch them in the face regardless of the social consequences. His impulsive nature even led him to declare war against the World Government and three Yonko for the sake of his friends, though this dedication has earned him more and more allies to the point where he now has a grand fleet at his call should he ever need them.
Outside (and inside) of battle, Luffy really enjoys parties, meat, and simply having a good time.
