One Minute Melee Fanon Wiki

This page is a work in progress.

These are the wiki's rules and guidelines, which every user is expected follow. The sections below explain the conduct we expect from you.

General Policies

1) It should be straightforward and obvious that we do NOT condone any form of aggressivity, hostility, trolling, flaming, cybermobbing, digital bullying or spamming.

  • This extends beyond wiki users. The OMMF wiki is NOT a place to bash on or smear the reputation of certain individuals. Slandering is not permitted in any way.

2) Everyone is to be equally respected, staff or not, completely regardless of their gender, gender identity, sexuality, race, nationality, ethnicity, religion, age and any other potential conditions (eg. having autism or bipolar disorder). Discrimination, xenophobia and prejudice of any sorts (Includes racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, sanism, misogyny and misandry) will be heavily penalized.

3) Criticism must be CONSTRUCTIVE. Don't go around bashing authors and their hard work — Calmly explain to them what you didn't like and how they can improve.

  • Criticizing a battle PURELY on outcome alone is not tolerated. On this wiki, anyone is free to pick the winner for their fights, no matter how unfeasible said outcome is perceived to be. Remember that One Minute Melee has NO research, hence outcomes cannot be debated. Of course, this does not mean you can't comment about how you wanted the other character to win — you just can't bash the author over it, or call the fight bad purely out of spite for its conclusion.

4) Doxxing of any potential kind is responded to with an instant permaban. We exercise a zero-tolerance policy in this regard.

5) On this wiki, everyone is free to make their own battles — so don't ruin another's hard work. Editing the battles of other users without their explicit permission is NOT allowed, unless you're collabing.

  • This includes edits which do not change the victor of the fight.
  • Minor edits with the sole intent to fix formatting, such as spelling and grammar, are allowed. However, do not go overboard with this, and take into account that English may not be the first language of an author. It is also permissible to add another user's fights to any appropriate categories.

6) You no longer need explicit permission to make your own version of existing Melees, though it is courteous to inform the original author you will be adding your version to the page. However, spite matches that are made purely to "disprove" the original conclusion or spite the winner you didn't like ARE NOT ALLOWED and will be cracked down upon. This doesn't mean your outcome can't differ from the others — it's pure spite and disrespect in combination with said outcome that's not tolerated. (Eg. Let's say Master Chief beats Mario. If you make your own version where Mario wins in a fair fight, it's good. If your own version goes about Chief getting the hell beaten out of him in mere seconds without getting the opportunity to defend himself or hurt Mario, then it's past the line.)

  • When making your own version of a Melee, do this in a tabber. Duplicate pages will be nuked upon sight, no exceptions made. If you are unsure how to make a tabber, please contact a staff member.

7) The use of artificial intelligence chatbots, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or CoPilot, as a method to generate the majority of your fight is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. If a fight of yours is suspected to have used AI to write most of it, you’ll be warned and your fight deleted. Continued use after the warning will warrant a ban.

  • Using AI as a way to get ideas or inspiration, though, is allowed, as long as most of the fight wasn’t solely the product of AI generation. You can also use AI as a way to check for grammar or the quality of your writing, just as long as you wrote most of the fight yourself.
  • However, you are allowed to have solely-AI-generated fights in a blog post, as long as you CLEARLY STATE that the fight was written with AI.

8) All Melee story sections are to have a bare minimum of 400 words. No Melees that are literally just 3 sentences. Fights completed before 2017 are exempt from this rule.

  • This includes introductions (X meets Y), fights (X fighting Y), and post-fights (what X does after defeating Y). It does not include descriptions (what the fight is), character select screens (if using one), and winner announcements.
  • Tools such as Wordcounter.net can be helpful

9) Absolutely NO VS Debating of any kind in the comments. One Minute Melee has NO research, so there's literally jack squat to debate about these fights. We have a discord server, and a sister site in the Death Battle fanon, that you can use for debates.

10) Please, keep serious topics like depression, suicide, politics and religion out of the wiki. Discussion of depression & suicide craps upon the atmosphere as a whole, whereas political / religious debates create nothing but division, drama and controversy.

11) Sockpuppetry (= the creation of alts to dodge bans or cause general disruption) is heavily frowned upon. Your alts will be permabanned, and any prior actions taken upon your main account will be amplified.

12) Writing content must be appropriate. This is a site dedicated to characters fighting each other, so blood / gore, violence, and coarse language are to be expected. However, extreme sexual content or racial slurs are prohibited.

  • As per FANDOM’s terms and conditions, characters are not allowed to directly call each other slurs such as c*unt or f*ggot, even if it is in-character for them to do so

13) Battle Records are irrelevant to this wiki the same way it is towards the DBX Fanon Wiki! If a character you like has a negative record, that does not necessarily mean there is a vendetta against said character, or you for that matter. It is a matter of personal preference and artistic license.

14) Once a What-If? One Minute Melees becomes an official episode, the What-If? One Minute Melees category can be removed and replaced with the What-If? One Minute Melees that came true category.

15) Please use common sense. Just because something isn’t mentioned in the Rules and Guidelines doesn’t mean it isn’t wrong.

The Blacklist

These characters cannot be used in a fight on this wiki, except in a blog post. However, some blacklisted combatants are also forbidden from blog posts.

Characters

  • Any and all real-life people, including internet celebrities.
    • However, any fictional depictions of real life people such as PewDiePie, Markiplier, H2O Delirous, Mike Tyson (Punch-Out!), Adolf Hitler (Wolfenstein), etc. are exceptions
    • Fictionalized wrestling personas (The Undertaker) are allowed. Real-life fighters (Ronda Rousey) are not allowed.
    • Having "real life people" themed fights in blogs are exceptions as a joke fight, so long as they do not cross the line on bullying or slander
  • Any and all real-life animals
    • Said figures are banned from blogs as well.
  • Non-corporeal companies or brands (Google Chrome, etc)
    • The exception is with mascots that can be considered characters in their own right, and have plenty of viable feats and fighting ability, such as Segata Sanshiro and Pepsiman.
  • Any and all modern religious figures (ex. God/Jehovah/Yahweh, Jesus, Satan, Allah, Ahura Mazda, deities from Hinduism)
    • Said figures are banned from blogs as well.
    • Fictionalized portrayals of ancient deities from may be used in battles, eg. Zeus (God of War), Thor (Marvel Comics), or Satan (Spawn).
  • The wiki staff will be wary of "featless" characters with no combat capability. While good creative writing can turn a seemingly-boring character into a legitimate combatant (see Smash Bros with the Wii Fit Trainer, or Colonel Sanders in DBX), the wiki staff do reserve the right to request more memetic characters be moved to blog posts.
  • Any characters made for children at the age of 6 or under are now banned from pages (Eg. Dora the Explorer, Peppa Pig, Thomas the Tank Engine, etc.)
    • If there are any pages that feature any character of any sort has been made before the day this rule has been made (28/4/2021), they are exceptions though we do recommend you copy and paste the entire thing in a blog post.
    • This doesn't mean other characters like SpongeBob SquarePants, Mickey Mouse and combatants like them are banned as they are also characters made for adults to enjoy as well.
  • Characters of pornographic origin
    • This does not include characters that have NSFW themes in their works (God of War, Game of Thrones, etc)
    • This does not include characters that are heavy with fanservice but not outright pornographic (Fairy Tail, Mortal Kombat, etc)
  • Racist Mario
